At Parbold Douglas we believe wholeheartedly in the fantastic benefits that sport can give to our children. As well as PE in class twice a week we provide an extensive range of clubs after school. During the year these include Football, Tag Rugby, Multisports, Tennis, Dance, Gymnastics, Cricket, Rounders and Netball.
We recognise and encourage a healthy sense of competition within school sport whilst also maintaining the sense of fun and enjoyment that should remain central within the sporting development of young people. We have many teams that represent our school in sporting competitions and have always been extremely proud of each and every one of them.
Our Year 5 and 6 Athletics Team performed brilliantly at the recent indoor athletics competition finishing 3rd out of 10 schools, the highest finish we have ever had. All of our athletes were a credit to the school and Mr Jones is incredibly proud of their achievement! We
ll done guys!
The school has been awarded the bronze award for PE this is down to the delivery of PE in school, the amount and quality of extra curricular clubs th
e school offers and children leading in sport.
On Sunday 18th May we took two teams to the Lancashire Rugby Tournament. We played fantastically well and both teams reached their respective finals. Our yellow team won the Bowl and our red team lost to a golden try in the final of the plate competition. We were also awarded the Fair Play trophy for our sportsmanship. The day was fantastic and Mr Jones was exceptionally proud of us all!
On Friday we travelled to Burscough to play against Burscough St Johns. After going 3.0 down we fought back to win the game 4.3. Throughout the game we played some beautiful passing football and Mr Jones was very proud of our performance and our attitude!
